Environment

I want to work closely with federal, state, and city environmental departments to focus and drive clean-up efforts so that you can live in a clean, sustainable, and healthy environment. From stemming combined-sewer overflows to waterfront design that is equitable and alleviates flooding, there is much left to do and I will tackle these and other environmental issues head-on.

Climate Change Action

I strongly support aggressive climate action to curb emissions and transition New York to renewable energy. Our communities already suffer public health consequences from environmental hazards and climate change. I support equitable policy solutions that ease this burden on working families and communities of color.

Addressing Climate Inequality

I back the emissions-reduction goals of the CLCPA, while emphasizing that the transition to sustainability must uphold workers' rights and living wages, and elevate the voices of frontline communities most impacted by environmental injustices. Corporations that contributed to the climate crisis must shoulder costs too.

Environmental Leadership

I want to leave the planet better than I found it for our children. This is not a partisan issue, but one of morality and parental responsibility. I pledge to be a leader who acts for our children and vulnerable neighbors most impacted by climate inequity.

Waterfront Resiliency

The 50th Assembly District faces unique challenges due to its susceptibility to rising sea levels, exacerbated by low-lying areas and the presence of two Superfund sites, compounded by combined sewer overflow issues. Recognizing the urgent need for action, I will focus on measures to enhance waterfront resiliency through the creation of biodiverse habitats and natural underwater flood barriers.

Parks & Open Spaces

Parks and waterfronts are invaluable public resources that should be accessible to all members of our community. I recognize their role as the great equalizers in our society, and it is imperative to ensure that future developments prioritize inclusive design principles that eliminate visual barriers and enhance public access to these spaces.

Prioritizing Accessibility

By prioritizing inclusivity and accessibility in the design and development of parks and waterfronts, we can create vibrant and welcoming public spaces that reflect the diversity and richness of our community. Through collaboration, transparency, and a commitment to equity, we can ensure that these invaluable assets remain accessible to all residents, serving as catalysts for social cohesion, health, and well-being.
