I will work to streamline procedures and timelines for licensing so that small businesses can operate legally, be in compliance, and work with the community to create lasting roots.
Increased Security & Protection
Retail theft is quickly becoming one of the highest crime statistics in Greenpoint and Williamsburg. I will work with the business community, legislators and law enforcement to increase thresholds for retail theft. I will also support the Retail Worker Protection Act to protect workers and offer training in dealing with this issue.
Commercial Rent & Lease Protections
We are seeing our high streets and business districts lined with empty storefronts and the turnover rate for business is too high. Fostering a health business community requires providing mediation in base-renewals and offering robust access to information and assistance programs.
Deliveries
Efficient and accessible deliveries are vital to the health and viability of most businesses. We have to bring small business, cycling advocates and DOT together to discuss how we can keep people safe and allow business to operate effectively.
